The Five Steps How To Find Your Best Weighted Vest –
It can be tricky to find your Best Weighted Vest. Why? Because you want to make sure that you ordered the best product on the market for your needs, body shape, workout style, weight amount in conjunction with fitness level and budget.
If you make mistakes and have to send your weighted vest back to the manufacturer especially if there is nothing wrong with it it can get expensive for you which is painful…
I had the same problem one time and what helped me in deciding on my Best Weighted Vest was doing a lot of research and testing as well as reading hundreds of customer reviews. I spent about 4 weeks on doing the research before I made a decision because I did not want to have to send the product back and spend money on shipping cost. We know by now that wearing a weighted vest has some great benefits so besides the benefits we need to examine other buying factors.
Because of the complexity of the topic “What actually is the Best Weighted Vest” and costs involved if you don’t get it right in the first place I have put together a list you can follow that will help you to make the right decision.
Best Weighted Vest Exercise
Please do this exercise with me. I have developed this checklist for you. You will see the benefits in the end and especially you will be much more clear in your head and in making the right decision on your question “Which is the Best Weighted Vest for Me”. Trust me it is not rocket science and you don’t need to read through hundreds of customer reviews if you follow these simple steps below.
Please take pen and paper and write down next to Each Step (Buying Factors) below your answers to my questions.
Best Weighted Vest Buying Factor Step 1 – Observe your Needs for Vest Functionality
This buying factor is multifaceted since it goes together with the vest functionality and peoples needs and they vary. The main questions here you have to ask yourself: For what do you need your weighted vest for besides the benefits you like to gain. Do you have little time to go to the gym and want to wear the product underneath your clothes at work or home. Do you want to wear the product visible to others? Do you wear the product more indoors or outdoors? If you wear the product outdoors make sure it is made of breathable material especially for training in the summer months and in hot climates. Anything else that is important to you like good looks or the material. Write it down. Got it?
Best Weighted Vest Buying Factor Step 2 – Observe your Body Shape
Are you skinny and have a small “delicate frame”? You are having trouble to gain weight and muscle mass? Then you body type is called Ectomorph. If you are athletic and have well defined muscles and generally your body is hard congratulations you are the healthiest of the three body types. You are a Mesomorph. If you are soft and have a round body and gain fat very easily and you are “stocky” build then your body type is Endomorph. Make a decision. What body type are you? And are you male or female? Don’t worry about your body height. It is less important in finding your Best Weighted Vest in my opinion.
Write down your Body Type: Ectomorph, Mesomorph or Endomorph.
Best Weighted Vest Buying Factor Step 3 – Examine your Workout Style
The workout style is the second most important buying factor besides the body shape in my opinion to find your Best Weighted Vest. What are you actually doing when you wear your weight vest? Write down which of the workout types below fits your style best:
CrossFit/ Firefighter and Military Training Program (SEAL Preparation)
CrossFit, becomes immensely popular over the last few years, and has even evolved into its own sport. CrossFit prescription is performing “functional movements that are constantly varied at high intensity.” CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program. The CrossFit program is designed to elicit as broad an adaptational response as possible.
NAVY SEAL Preparation
The SEAL training is extremely demanding and it is not designed to “get you in shape.” You must be in excellent physical condition and pass the PST – Test before you can be considered a SEAL candidate.
Sometimes it takes a solid year of training before you are physically capable of reaching the required scores. Most people make preparation at home or at their fitness club. An excellent start is Navy SEAL Workout – Phase 1 and then later if you have progressed in your fitness level try Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness. Bodybuilder Program & Body Weight Workouts
As one of the most popular workout styles out there, the bodybuilder workout is what you commonly see in fitness magazines, and is perfect for anyone looking to compete in bodybuilding, put on some lean muscle or even shred up their physique.
Bodybuilding involves a large number of muscles in the body. They are generally multi-joint movements that target the larger muscles of the body, such as chest, back and thighs but also involve the smaller muscles as well such as the shoulders, arms, calves and abs, as auxiliary muscles.
Cardio / Running Workouts
Cardio exercise is any type of aerobic exercise—treadmill, rower, stepper or cycling as well as running outdoors—which causes the heart to pump at 60% to 70% of its maximum rate.
Walking / Hiking / Golfing
You may just use your vest while walking or working around your house to loose some extra calories or while you go up to the mountains hiking with your friends.
Make a decision for what exercise category you like to use your best weighted vest?
Best Weighted Vest Buying Factor Step 4 – Examine your Fitness Level for added weight
Are you a total beginner? Then your added weight to your vest should not exceed 5lb in the beginning. I would go for a vest with 10lb max so I have room for expansion. For people with an Intermediate Fitness Level I would buy a weighted vest with 20lb and start maybe with 2lb segrements totaling 8lb. All Advanced Fitness Levels you can start with 20lb in the beginning and go with a 40lb vest so you have room for development.
Write down I am a Beginner or have Intermediate or Advanced Levels. Got it?
Best Weighted Vest Buying Factor Step 5 – What is your Budget based on usage frequency
Do you want to invest in your weighted vest? Because you will use it more frequent and you want better quality? Also certain body types can only go with certain weight vest models such as only those products which come in different sizes so they are limited.
If you are not limited and have a small budget then go for a cheaper weighted vest. Keep in mind these cheap vests are not designed for daily use and break easier. If you want to buy cheap you have to give up something on one end. However, everybody wants to save some money and if you really only using your vest occasionally why not go for a cheaper model.
If you want a certain quality and also weight level then you have to look at your vest as a future investment. Cheap Vests go from $20-40, better quality products start at $120. So now I have you set your budget? Write it down.
Did you come up with a list yet? Here is my list after this exercise:
Step 1: Usage for in and outdoors, Visible, Attractive looking, Breathable material important since I live in hot climates (Florida)
Step 2: Mesomorph Body Type, Female
Step 3: Cardio and Body Weight Workouts
Step 4: Intermediate to Advanced Fitness Level
Step 5: Usage more frequent so I like to invest in my new workout tool
Now I rank the buying factors and give them a new order from 1 to 5. What is most important in finding your best weighted vest? Something you cannot change immediately and can’t compromise on is your Body Shape. Always put that first. Everything else can be changed and each person has its own individual needs and needs can change too. So my New List looks like this:
Rank 1: Mesomorph Body Type, Female
Rank 2: Usage for in and outdoors, Visible, Attractive looking, Breathable material important since I live in hot climate (Florida)
Rank 3: Cardio and Body Weight Workouts
Rank 4: Usage more frequent so I like to invest in my new workout tool
Rank 5: Intermediate to Advanced Fitness Level
I decided on my best weighted vest based on how I ranked the buying factors. I looked for the features I had to have in my best weighted vest. I needed a multi training workout vest. The quality and look was important to me also so I decided to buy 2 different models for the different workouts I like to do. The Hyperwear Pro for Gym Workouts and the 30lb MIR Weighted Vest for Women for Cardio Training.
